How to Ride a GPX Route with oratrek
A great ride doesn't start with the first pedal stroke – it starts with preparation. With oratrek, you import your GPX route, download the offline maps before your ride and then ride the route with turn-by-turn hints.
1. Prepare your route
oratrek doesn't plan routes – it imports them. A GPX file is a route file you download from a tour portal, a cycling route website or your club, for example. You can also create your route yourself in a route planner of your choice and export it as a GPX file. Make sure the start and end points are clearly set and the route doesn't contain unnecessary loops.
The cleaner the source file, the clearer the navigation in the app.
2. Import the GPX file into oratrek
- In oratrek, tap “Import Route” on the “Home” tab.
- Tap “Select GPX File” and choose the file on your smartphone. The route is saved right away and appears under “Saved Routes”.
- To navigate, select the route with “Select route” before your ride.
Once imported, the route can be used right away with your activity profile – for example road cycling or mountain biking.
3. Download the offline map in advance
To stay independent of mobile coverage on the road, save the relevant map area before your ride. This improves stability and reduces unnecessary background activity.
4. Start tracking the right way
Choose your profile, activate sensors such as heart rate or cadence if needed, and then start tracking. oratrek keeps running even when the screen is off or the app is in the background.
5. Review your ride
After you stop, you get a compact summary with distance, duration, pace and optional sensor data. You can export the activity later for training or archiving.
